Sandro Sanna: Light, Matter, Space

Presented as part of Rome Art Week (25-30 October), Sandro Sanna: Light, Matter, Space is a site-specific exhibition curated in the artist’s studio, opened up to the public, giving a rare opportunity to gain insight into Sanna’s working practices.

Curator

Arabella Morabito was born in Brussels and has an international background, having lived in fi ve countries across three continents. She graduated in History of Art from University College London in 2020. She has always juxtaposed work experience with her academic studies and has completed various internships including Christie’s London, the Gagosian Rome, Galleria Russo in Rome and the Museum of Arte Antigua in Lisbon. As part of her Curation MA at University of Exeter, Arabella undertook an internship at Frieze London.

Artist

Sandro Sanna was born in Macomer in Sardinia. In June 1965, at a young age, he moved with his family to Rome, where he still lives and works today. Primarily known as a painter of largeformat monochrome abstraction, he is also a sculptor and mixed media artist, who has shown all around the world.

Selected works have been chosen with the aim of representing the path that the artist has taken over the last twenty years. Paintings will be suspended from the ceiling, inviting the viewer into an almost surreal space, and hung so as to exploit the play of light created by the works themselves, in this special site of artistic invention.
